Rock radio favorites Sloan will return home to Halifax to perform songs in support of their latest release Never Hear the End of It at the Marquee Club on Friday, Aug. 3 at 10 p.m.

The band, comprised of Chris Murphy, Patrick Pentland, Jay Ferguson and Andrew Scott, is praised for their classic rock ‘n’ roll sound and power pop appeal and have been turning out hits for the past 16 years.

Formed while the group was attending the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design in Halifax, it did not take long before the local scene took notice and their first EP Peppermint was released in 1992. The band has since become leaders in the Canadian music scene and have released eight studio albums, including their 30 track epic Never Hear the End of It in 2006.

Clocking in at 76 minutes, Never Hear the End of It is a collection of brand new songs from all four members and received the 2007 East Coast Music Award for Newcap Radio Rock Recording of the Year. Rolling Stone magazine said, “…a power pop record that flows like the Minutemen’s Double Nickels on the Dime -- but with glam rock and acoustic ballandry in the mix.” Billboard magazine said, “It's densely saturated with color, yet it's also lean and direct; it may swirl with rushes of psychedelic harmonies and shards of punk guitars, but it's precisely constructed upon the quartet's knack for sharp, memorable pop hooks.”

Tickets for the show are $20 in advance and $25 day of show (taxes included) and go on sale this Friday, June 15 at 12noon at the Dalhousie Arts Centre box office, by calling 494-3820 (toll free 1-800-874-1669) or online at www.sonicconcerts.com. The show is restricted to ages 19 and over. Doors open at 9 p.m.
