Scott Macmillan’s ‘Celtic Mass for the Sea’ performances well received in Germany!

Composer Scott Macmillan and librettist, Jennyfer Brickenden have recently returned from Germany where they attended performances of their celebrated work the Celtic Mass for the Sea. These were amazing concerts and the audiences showed their appreciation demanding 2 encores at St Johannis Kirche in Hamburg and 3 encores in Lutherkirche in Osnabrck!

Macmillan and Brickenden are now getting ready for 2 exciting Cape Breton performances at this years Celtic Colours International Festival; October 12 7:30pm at the Savoy Theatre in Glace Bay, and October 13 at 2pm at Strathspey Place in Mabou.

On Sept 16, 2007 in Hamburg Germany at St. Johannis, Altona in the afternoon and at the historic Hauptkirche St. Michaelis 2 performances of Scott Macmillan's and Jennyfer Brickenden's Celtic Mass for the Sea were presented. Sharing the podium and sharing the stage the choral directors lead a combined choir from Germany and Switzerland The German Choir Osnabrcker Vocalvielharmonie was under the Direction of Holger Dolkemeyer, from Osnabrck Germany and Coro Sonoro from Baden Switzerland was lead by Margret Sohn. The choirs were accompanied by the Pro Musica orchestra of Osnabrck and a Celtic Ensemble of the finest of German Celtic Players Jens Kommnick, guitar, Johannes Schiefner, pipes/whistles, Franziska Urton, fiddle Irina Zerikly on Celtic harp.

On Sept 19th the Celtic Mass for the Sea was performed by the Osnabrcker Vocalvielharmonie, along with the Pro Musica orchestra and the full Celtic ensemble, directed by Holger Dolkemeyer; at Lutherkirche in Osnabrck. This was a fund raising concert for the Osnabruck Chapter of the German Nature Protection Federation, NABU.
