JazzEast Annual Fundraiser Dec 1st featuring Michael Kaeshammer

By Administrator

Saturday December 1st at 7pm in The Schooner Room, Casino NS, 1919 Upper Water St, Halifax NS, $125 (including dinner, silent auction and a $60 charitable tax receipt).

On the heals of his much anticipated fifth release Days Like These, stride piano sensation Michael Kaeshammer headlines JazzEast's 4th Annual Gala Fundraiser in support of Creative Music Workshop, the two week school for aspiring improvisers and other JazzEast outreach and education programs Saturday Dec 1st at The Schooner Room, Casino Nova Scotia, 7pm. Hosted by CBC's Heidi Petracek, this exciting holiday event includes multi course fine dining, wine and what has become known as one of the best silent auctions in the city. The JazzEast Gala Fundraiser is a wonderful opportunity to make a significant contribution to these very important programs, as well as having a wonderful time at a top notch concert and bidding on exceptional one-of-a-kind-items, just in time for Christmas. As a special addition to the evening's festivities pianist Patrick Storer, 2007 CMW student and winner of this year's Galaxie Rising Star Award will provide musical accompaniment during the early part of the evening, an exciting opportunity for the promising young musician to show off his talent before an appreciative audience.

Michael Kaeshammer continues to demonstrate his growth as a composer of hip, well-crafted originals grounded in his encyclopedic knowledge of traditional piano styles. Ragtime, stride and Jelly Roll Morton's early jazz stylings seamlessly meld into funk-inspired bebop, romantic ballads, and modern jazz in the ever-expanding, unique keyboard sound of the young piano star, whose last album Strut propelled the versatile and entertaining artist to fame. His current tour schedules have seen him opening for acclaimed Canadian jazz vocalists Holly Cole and Sophie Milman, but at this evening's performance Kaeshammer is the star attraction — showcasing brilliant new originals and standards from his newest release Days Like These.

Tickets are $125 for this one of a kind fundraising event (ticket includes concert, dinner & wine & silent auction.) A $60 charitable tax receipt will be issued with each ticket purchased. Corporate tables (8) can also be purchased and company's who purchase a whole table will be recognised as official sponsors of the event. For more information and to book a table, please contact Sarah Watling at email sarah@jazzeast.com. This concert is 19+.
